Mat+ Classes

Pilates Classes for Your Body

Our group Pilates classes focus on strengthening core musculature, improving flexibility and range of motion, and enhancing your body’s innate ability to move. Mat+ classes utilize a variety of small props and modalities to ensure these classes and movements are accessible to ALL bodies.

Benefits Of Mat+ Pilates Classes

Pilates is a strengthening practice that encourages mindful connection between inner strength and physical grace. Benefits can include improved core strength and flexibility, rehabilitation of joint and spinal injuries, and better posture. Pilates is also an incredible stress management tool that encourages confidence and positivity!

What to Expect

Our Mat+ group classes use the traditional Pilates conditioning methods developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates in the 1920s and expand to include the evolution and interpretations of Pilates Master Ron Fletcher.

Intimate Class Sizes

At Your Body Pilates, we’re focused on correct form and efficient technique. We limit our Mat+ Pilates classes to 10 participants to ensure each person gets personalized attention.

Props + Modifications

We take pride in our ability to work with a variety of clients. During Mat+ classes, your instructor will provide small props and modifications as needed to make matwork accessible for YOUR body.

Variety in Movements + Modalities

No two Mat+ classes are exactly alike! Participants can expect to explore different movements and modalities, such as Matwork, Magic Circle, Foam Roller, Fletcher Pilates Towelwork, and Fletcher Pilates Floorwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a Mat+ class different from a COREtet class?

Mat+ classes are slightly larger, with up to 10 participants per session. Instead of Pilates apparatus (e.g., the reformer), you’ll utilize small props such as foam rollers, the Magic Circle, and more to achieve full-body conditioning.

I'm worried I can't do all of the movements. Is this class right for me?

The most important prerequisite for Mat Pilates is that you can get down to the floor and back up again. As always, we recommend you complete a few private lessons before starting group classes. All this said, our teachers can help you learn how to use props and modifications to make matwork more accessible, regardless of your experience level!
